Creation Care Mission Statement
Address environmental issues within parish facilities, assist with sustainable programs at the school and educate and inform parishioners on sustainable practices. Thank you!As part of the Season of Creation (September 1–October 4), the St. Paul VI Creation Care Group coordinated a parish-wide Styrofoam recycling effort. Collections took place throughout September at St. Mary School and on October 11 at the Mater Christi Campus. Together, we gathered two full SUV loads of Styrofoam from the school and a dump truck load during the October 11 event! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped keep this material out of landfills. Our next Styrofoam collection will be in January, so please start saving your Styrofoam now. (The photo below shows just a portion of what we collected!)

CREATION CARE MINISTRY
Be the change in the world! What changes will you make as an individual to contribute to a more just and sustainable future? Have you considered joining your parish Creation Care Team, or starting one? The Catholic Climate Covenant has great resources to get one started. Consider reading the encyclical Laudato Si’, a great source of inspiration and motivation. Click here to see the Laudato Si' discussion guide from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Take some time to explore Laudato Deum, a letter from Pope Francis, published in 2023, which serves as a follow-up to his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’. It reminds people how serious climate change is and urges everyone—especially world leaders—to take action quickly. https://www.ccbq.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/10.04.23_Laudate-Deum.pdf Archdiocese of Chicago Laudato Si' Action Platform (LSAP) To join or questions about Creation Care? St. Paul VI Parish No Idling Appeal
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and the well-being of our students, staff, visitors, and neighbors, St. Paul VI Parish is implementing a no-idling appeal for all vehicles on the Mater Christi and St. Mary campuses. We kindly request that all drivers on campus—parishioners, faculty, staff, and visitors—turn off their vehicles if they expect to be stationary for more than 30 seconds.
Join Us in Creating a Greener Campus! We appreciate your cooperation in supporting this appeal. By working together, we can reduce emissions and make our campus a cleaner and healthier place to live, work, and learn. Also please consider expanding your no-idling whenever you are stopping and waiting in the car. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact Bob Finn at [email protected] Thank you, St. Paul VI Parish Creation Care Team |
