Air travel accounts for 10% of all U.S. transportation greenhouse gas emissions that warm the planet. Driving may be a better environmental option on shorter trips. Driving higher mileage cars with additional passengers is almost always a better environmental option. Reducing the number of flights, you take is the most effective way of cutting your aviation footprint. If you have to fly, non-stop coach flights are typically the best alternative. Reducing the amount of stuff you take, and avoiding flights on very small or very large planes can also reduce your emissions impact.
